#Vaitercopasim / The World Cup in Brazil 2014

The World Cup this time is highly controversial. Many demonstrations and strikes going on, causing trouble not only in the streets. Not to forget the “cleaning” or “pacifying” of the favelas…
The preparations for this event started very slowly because of this trouble. Only very few people decorated their houses and flats with their brazilian flags. But “vai ter copa, sim” – meaning “the world cup is going to happen, no matter what”.
The first day of the World Cup in Sao Paulo you could hear fireworks and cars tooting in the morning already. Even though many people I got to know didn’t watch it as a protest against the government, it’s going to be a big party after all, I guess!!!
