What I’m realizing currently is that my whole life I’ve always doubted myself, my intuition, my intellect, my emotional intelligence, my common sense,... looking for confirmation, advice or guidance in the opinions of others. I always thought that I’m never right. Others are always right. But what I’m also realizing now is that if my feeling of something being right or wrong, even if against all odds, I could still be on the right side. My feelings are valid! So even if 99% of my friends don’t believe in things I believe in, like in transformation of yourself, I do believe in it. I want to believe that I can be the 1% that is right. I don’t want to be discouraged by the 99% who say & think in way that doesn’t resonate to me. I am aware that it’s very difficult to reprogram your dysfunctional patterns. But it’s possible (if you are fed up with continuing a life in denial, keeping up unhealthy ways of life & love). A relationship, too, can get into a crisis after no matter what amount of time & it can heal if both partners are open for real change. I am guilty of putting myself into dangerous affairs, but I have a history, too, that supported my way into them. Awareness is certainly a good first step into transformation. It’s still difficult to go through all this alone. When in a crisis, one needs a „cheerleader“, a mentor, a coach, a friend and a peer, I heard today in a TED talk. It’s totally ok if you feel like you can’t do it on your own. It’s even better if amongst all the people you have a friend who understands your heart & has the sensibility to tell you „I’m so sorry this happened to you. I think this person did you so wrong and I wish I could undo it.“ Not: „You should think about what it teaches you about yourself“. Because I am, we are, already doing the work. What I’m really bad in is self-compassion. Like most of us are. That’s when we need a friend to express the compassion while we‘re busy learning to do it ourselves. „Busy is a trap, not a status symbol.“(by Jericho Mandybur) Read that again. So many of us have such a strong sense for responsibility and accountability in their job. But many of us also lose the sight of what amount of that responsibility and effort is healthy for them or not. Many end up complaining about the job and about their exhaustion, and being busy doesn’t help them look for the solution either. It quickly becomes a status symbol as well - „if I work hard and much, my effort is going to be acknowledged (or I am going to be acknowledged).“ The truth is that the kind of acknowledgement that you wish for is different from the one that you actually need. Acknowledgement in a busy job world is rare per se. And the boss asking you to reduce your overtime and share your work with a colleague in order to create a work-life balance for you is almost non-existent. Self-Care is not a hype. I’ve decided to make the dedication to an institution that supports kids’ and teenage mental health, whose mental problems are caused by a difficult or unhealthy upbringing. #Throwback to my trip to Banaue, The Philippines in 2007. My friend invited me to see the rice terraces which were impressive. But the people around there fascinated me, too. I wonder how this little soul is doing and where she is. This cute girl was dancing and playing all by herself, so happy with nothing. . 💝This year I’m not comfortable with buying presents for the family just because it’s Christmas.
